Volunteer Orientation For liability reasons, all volunteers must be at least 16 years of age. All Classes begin at 5:30 pm and are held in the shelter conference room unless otherwise noted.
Sessions are approximately 2 hours long and include a tour. To protect volunteers, our pets and the public, basic orientation is mandatory. Monday, September 27th If you need to do court-ordered community service, this class is not necessary - please call the shelter at If for some reason, none of the listed classes suit your schedule, please contact us, as from time to time, unadvertised classes may be made available (mostly during the school year). Extra classes are typically scheduled during the school year for special interest groups. Since they often don't fill the classroom, other individuals can sometimes be invited to participate. When school is not in session, there is rarely enough demand for more than one class per month. Any group of 10 or more can call to arrange for a special class time. Children ages 6-12 are invited to join our "Kid's Club". The club is limited to 20 children, with renewal due quarterly. To register your child, see the contact information at the bottom of this page. Children must be registered by the end of the month prior to the first meeting they wish to attend. NOTE: Children may join the club at any time - there is no need to wait until the beginning of a new quarter! We will keep track for you, and let you know when to renew! Programs are all "stand-alone", so waiting isn't necessary. For more information and/or to register for a class or the club, please contact Candy Barnes, Humane Educator at (540) 434-5270 or humane@rhspca.org |
